Read the documents before the project ends

Warranty paperwork is worth reviewing while you are choosing the roof, not only after installation. Ask which documents relate to the materials and which address the contractor’s work. Request the actual terms rather than a summary on a proposal. Identify the company responsible for each document and ask what information or action is required from you. Coverage questions belong with the party issuing the warranty.

Confirm the registration responsibility

At the contract stage, ask who will complete any required registration and how you will know it has been submitted or accepted. Check the property address, owner details, installed products, and project information for accuracy. If a confirmation or certificate is issued, request a copy and keep it with the agreement.

• Who submits it, and what deadline appears in the terms?

• How can I verify the record with the issuer?
• What should I do if the confirmation does not match the installation?

Keep a useful roof record

Save the product list, paid invoices, approved changes, inspection paperwork, care instructions, and warranty documents in one place. Ask how to report a concern and what records may be requested. If you expect to sell the property, read the transfer provisions and confirm any steps with the issuer. Registration should be documented according to the actual terms; it does not replace reading the scope, conditions, and exclusions of the coverage you selected.

A material warranty, installation warranty and enhanced system warranty can cover different things. Identify who provides each promise, which products or work it applies to, and what the owner must do. The headline duration alone does not tell you what a future claim will cover.

Close the registration loop

Ask who registers any eligible coverage and what confirmation you will receive. Save the confirmation with your invoice and installation information. If the project requires a particular contractor status or system combination, confirm it for this project before relying on the coverage.
